Star Dust   –   15 January 1940   –   Scandinavia broadcast

Guitar Solo

C
&A:

The last time that Charlie Christian recorded Star Dust with the sextet was on this radio transmission to Scandinavia, a broadcast that was commercially unavailable until its release on compact disc 67 years later.

As in the past, Charles’ featured solo here stayed basically the same as on the other sextet versions.  One detail that was always interesting in his configuration of the song was the last three bars.  Charles invariably provided a singular blues-drenched finale to his solo.

There would remain only one more rendition of Star Dust to be recorded with a CC solo – eight bars on a Columbia recording backing a singer nine months later.
