C&A:

With an unexpected shift from the key of A to the key of F by Charles, A Smo-o-o-oth One follows immediately after the amazing Riffin’ Around in this studio jam session.  It really doesn’t provide much guitar to listen to but Charlie Christian swings the first chorus hard with the theme riffs and some perfectly placed chords in the bridge (all sharply stroked on the up beat).  He continues on the next chorus with fresh swingin’ riffs giving the rest of the crew the gusto to continue swinging on a few more choruses without him.

Charles appears a couple of times later on with additional riffs to refuel the proceedings.  The drive with which he executes his statements is what fascinates and draws much attention to this part of the session.  After a bit less than six choruses, the pianist calls out the next tune to follow, I Can’t Believe You’re In Love with Me, which switches key again, to C.
