This version is shortened a bit from the studio takes four days earlier: the
tenor sax gets only 16 bars rather than 32, but then the A section after the
bridge is increased to 16 bars instead of eight.
Charlie Christian begins his solo with a virtual clone of the first four
bars of the first take of the studio session four days prior the sequence
is well worthy of the repeat and, though rather common, it suits the opening
theme admirably. Excellent long runs on the bridge are the crowning
highlight here. The last four bars are a clever variation on what
would be a normally familiar, closing statement.
This solo is somehow reminiscent of the Charles of a year and a half
earlier possibly could (also) be due to the Fletcheresque piano accompaniment.
